1. Collection of data

Registration of a user account on this site requires only a valid e-mail address and a user name that has not been used already. 3. Cookies and how we measure visits

The cookie that keeps you signed in. A session cookie keeps you signed in and carries the security token that protects forms on this site from cross-site request forgery. It is deleted when your session ends. There is no way to switch this off and still use an account here, so we do not ask you to consent to it — we simply tell you it is there.

Google Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to measure how this site is used — how many people visit, which pages they read, roughly where in the world they are, and what kind of device and browser they use. We treat this measurement as necessary to running the site, so it is switched on for every visitor and the cookie notice tells you about it rather than offering you a switch. Google Analytics is provided by Google, not by us. Things we load only if you say yes. Facebook's SDK (for sharing and Facebook login) and OneSignal (for browser push notifications) are run by other companies and set their own cookies, which we do not control. Neither is loaded, and neither is contacted, unless you choose Accept all in the cookie notice. Choosing Essential only means they are never requested at all. You can change your mind at any time by clearing the pt_consent cookie in your browser, which brings the notice back.

Your rights. If you are in the UK or the European Economic Area you have the right to ask us what personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or erased, to object to how we are using it, and to receive a copy of it. Advertisements may appear on this site and, if so, may set and access cookies on your computer; such cookies are subject to the privacy policy of the parties providing the advertisement. Those parties do not have access to this site's cookies.

4. Minors

People aged eighteen or younger are not allowed to become registered users of this site.

5. Editing or deleting your account information
